About RappFLOW

Rappahannock Friends and Lovers of our Watershed (RappFLOW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Rappahannock County, VA.  Founded in 2002 by a group of citizens volunteers, RappFLOW has played an important role in raising awareness about the importance of conserving and protecting water resources in our local watershed.

Our goal is to build a shared base of knowledge among all members of our community. This can lead to a better understanding of the issues and actions necessary to assure conservation and protection of the rivers and streams in Rappahannock County.

To this end, RappFLOW conducts a variety of activities in the community which include:

  • Conducting “hands-on” environmental education projects in local schools.
  • Organizing field trips and education workshops focused on conserving and protecting water resources.
  • Partnering with local and regional organizations such as the Piedmont Environmental Council, Friends of the Rappahannock and Old Rag Master Naturalists, the Rappahannock Lions Club, and the Rappahannock County Recreational Facilities Authority on a variety of projects that include water quality monitoring, environmental workshops, and tree and pollinator garden plantings and signage.
  • Annual Watershed Field Day for 6th graders at Rappahannock Elementary
  • Support to Rappahannock County on Watersheds and Streams. See Mapping Work.

All projects and programs are run by volunteers and financial contributions are tax deductible.
